Body of Proof

I'm always hoping to find a new show to add to my collection of favorites, so I decided to give Body of Proof a try. This show intrigued me because I am a fan of Law & Order: SVU and I thought that a show from the perspective of the ME would be new and fresh. I couldn't have been more right. This show is everything I thought it would be. It reminds me a little of SVU, Monk, Grey's Anatomy, Royal Pains, Psych, and House. I think that ABC has found a winner with this show. The characters are quirky and cool. I don't even know half of their names yet, but it doesn't matter. Megan, played wonderfully by Dana Delany, is an overachiever, a workaholic with a past that causes her to be bitter. The bitterness is what makes her a slave to her job and aloof towards her teenager daughter, Lacey. I look forward to this show now and I hope that the cases continue to be believable as well as daring.

Make It or Break It

Now, this show on ABC family is more or less a guilty pleasure show. I watched the marathon leading up to the finale last summer and got hooked. My husband watched a few episodes and he got hooked as well. Does that make it less of a guilty pleasure or no? Great characters are what make a show for me. MIOBI has amazing characters. The four main characters, Payson, Emily, Lauren, and Kaylie are very believable. This season has gotten off to a great start. Payson is back from her injury, Emily is in trouble with the law, Kaylie is recovering from anorexia, and Lauren is....well, being Lauren. Last night's episode was highly entertaining. The new coach, Darby Conrad arrives and is the exact opposite of Sasha. She is a free spirit who doesn't believe in rules and regulations for the Rock gymnasts. Darby also happens to have history with Lauren, which makes Emily and Payson skeptical. The way Lauren acts makes me want to reach through the television and slap her across the face. Her sense of entitlement creates friction among the other gymnasts. She also uses her "power" to help persuade Summer and her father to give their relationship another chance. This all builds to the climactic scene where, after a competition for team captain between Lauren and Payson ends in a tie, making them co-captains, Lauren tells her father if he doesn't force Darby to make her captain, she will tell everyone that she leaked the video to Ellen Beals, which helped him to get voted president of the Rock. Lauren has her father wrapped around her little manicured finger, which is sure to make for some juicy episodes in the near future.

The preview for next week's episode is enticing. Someone dies! Who will it be? My first thought--I wouldn't mind seeing Lauren die...but there goes the drama. I thought for a second, maybe it's Summer. Perhaps the new coach dies suddenly, making a way for Sasha to return? Maybe Kaylie's friend from the rehab center? Emily? Chelsea Hobbs is pregnant, so is this what happens when you can't film a pregnant actress in a leotard? I guess we will have to wait and see.

Televisionalia

I decided to start this blog about different television shows that I am watching to try to refresh my writing skills. It has been a while since I have actually done some writing, and frankly I miss it. I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a minor in creative writing. I was unable to find a job as an elementary teacher so for years I worked at a job totally unrelated to my degree. Now I am a stay at home mom and am looking for some sort of brain stimulation, so that is why I decided to create televisionalia. It will give me a chance to express some different thoughts and feelings.  Feel free to read, comment or suggest.
